Get Involved!

Want to get involved, make friends and bless other homeschoolers?  SELAH provides opportunities to do so in fun, simple ways!

SELAH is an all-volunteer organization.  The events, activities and information offered are available because families bless the group with their time and talents. Volunteering is always optional and never required in order to participate in SELAH.

There are multiple opportunities to serve throughout the year.  Contact the appropriate Board member for more information.

Mom2Mom ~ There are a variety of ways to serve at SELAH’s monthly mom meetings:

*Greeter – be at Mom2Mom a few minutes early to greet ladies as they arrive and help with check-in

*Kitchen Hostess – be available to the host prior to, during and after Mom2Mom to help with food, set-up and clean-up

*Host – Do you have a quiet, tidy space for moms to gather? Meetings average 30 ladies.  SELAH provides drinks, paper goods and extra chairs while SELAH moms provide snacks.

Other Ways to Plug inSELAH families have freedom to plan events and activities, whether it’s a weekly club event or a one-time trip to the park with friends.

*Host a club: parent-hosted events based on topics or interests.  Past ideas include LEGO club, special needs moms group, book club, poetry club, craft club, and math club.  Some other ideas could include science club, gardening club, spelling bee, music club, tea time, handiwork club – the ideas are limited only by your time, space and ideas.

*Teen group:  plan teen fellowship and/or service events

*Mentoring Moms: this group is for 1st & 2nd year homeschool moms who are supported and encouraged by veteran homeschool moms

*Administrative help:  data entry, website/calendar updates, newsletter creation and more

*Board member: Do you have strong leadership and communication skills?  Do you have a passion for homeschooling and the ministry of SELAH? Nominations open in March each year for open Board positions. These are obviously big jobs, but some of the most rewarding to be had in SELAH. Positions include Director, Associate Director, Treasurer, Secretary, Field Trip Coordinator and Social Events Coordinator.  Training is provided and no experience is necessary.  See Bylaws for requirements.
